Binding Cord

by OrthaeVelve

Enchants a piece of natural fiber rope, cord, string or twine to be used in magically binding people, places or things.

The caster must make a cord of the desired length out of material that was once living (flax, cotton, twine, nettle, hemp or wool for example) and soak every inch in their blood over a period of several nights. The string must be formed into the sigil for "binding" and left in a place of power overnight. The next day, the caster ties nine knots in the string while chanting the spell used for knot magic, with one line per knot:

"By knot of one, my spell's begun."
"By knot of two it cometh true."
"By knot of three so mote it be"
"By knot of four my power I store"
"By knot of five it comes alive"
"By knot of six this Essence I fix"
"By knot of seven this spell I leaven"
"By knot of eight it is now fate"
"By knot of nine what's done is surely mine"

After this, the cord may be used. At the basic level, this cord will triple the effectiveness of any binding, warding, closing or ending ritual. It will cause a document around which it is sealed with sealing wax to be unquestioningly believed by it's first reader. It may also be used in rites of tracking or object retreival for an extra measure of sucess. The cord may only be used for one night per moon cycle before it must be re-anointed with blood and set aside until the next cycle.
